課程概述

Information technology and systems (IT/IS) have become an indispensable component in organizations and, in many cases, greatly affect the operations, decisions, and competitiveness of organizations. IT/IS plays an increasingly important role in the digital and knowledge economy. Therefore, the objective of this course is to help students understand the relationships between IT/IS and organizations as well as management of IT/IS. 

課程目標
This course is structured into two modules: IT/IS and Organizations and Management of IT/IS. In the IT/IS and Organizations module, we will discuss the following topics: (1) IT values, (2) alignment of IS and Business Strategies, (3) IT and business process reengineering, (4) IT investment and firm performance, and (5) IT governance. In the Management of IT/IS module, we will cover the following topics, including (1) IT/IS project management, (2) IT/IS outsourcing, (3) post M&A IT management, (4) IT/IS adoption, (5) development perspective of IS, (6) implementation perspective of IS, (7) electronic commerce related research, and (8) Web 2.0 related research.

Term Project:
You are required to undertake a group project related to information systems and management. Each group consists of at most 5 students. Your term project needs to clearly address a research question and provide interesting research results to the target area under investigation. Before you decide the project direction and scope, you are encouraged to discuss your thoughts and plan with the instructor.
In your project proposal and during the project proposal presentation, you are required to 1) clearly state the motivation and importance of your term project, 2) provide a preliminary literature review, 3) propose your research model (or design) and/or research tasks involved in your term project), and 4) conclude with expected research results. You are expected to prepare a 10- to 15-minute project proposal presentation in class and a 5-page written project proposal.
At the end of semester, 20 minutes are allocated to each project presentation. Again, you are expected to report the motivation and objective of your term project, literature review, your research model (or design), and the research results obtained from your term project. In addition, you are required to turn in your final project report (around 20 pages).
On the last day of the semester, each student will be asked to complete a peer evaluation on the contribution of your group members (including yourself). Your evaluation will be kept confidential and will be used as a reference when the instructor assigns the individual grade of the term project to each of your group members.

Paper Presentation and Discussions:
The paper presentation is of group effort. Each group consists of at most 5 students. For each assigned article, one group will be assigned to present the paper. The presenting group needs to prepare a one-hour presentation on the assigned article. The presentation slides should be made available to all other students the day befor
